The celebrated 2011 Purina National Dog Show was this weekend and I saw a cute little puppy waking around the International Centre. The purebred dogs were competing during the March Break in a charity event for the Canadian Kennel Club Foundation.

Purina National Dog Show 2011

The folks at Zoo To You were at the Performance World Custom Car and Truck Show and their various critters were a hit with visitors. The Prairie Dogs were so cute.

You could even hold on to some of the menagerie such as the snakes and the tarantula spider.
You can see more of the animals after the jump.

As much as I think dogs probably hate wearing boots they do make a warm addition to life in winter. The little greyhound mix above has bright yellow boots that highlight the colour of his eyes when he walks in the sun. His shadow also keeps warm in their boots. Zelda Nista, below, is an activist calling for a G20 Public Inquiry at a recent Queens Park protest march and works the pink booties.
If you need some doggie booties or other type of animal clothes you can always buy stuff online at Pooch Canada Pet Supplies or go to Neo-Paws and try out a few models.

Dog Boots

During the lead up to the Kensington Market Winter Solstice parade we ran into a young lady that had a cute little puppy that she was keeping warm in her big, red mittens.

For another cute puppy check out the Toronto Star photo blog and their picture of a border collie's face after it played in the snow.

OMG Cute Puppy

It's funny when a tour of Toronto Harbour requires a winter coat, hats and mittens and even though the water will soon be full of chunks of ice the boats still remain on the lake. The Harbour Star, above, cruises by the Islands while the Capt Matthew Flinders, below, is tied up at the dock.

There are two birds in the city that make you hate birds - pigeons and seagulls. Not surprisingly you see a lot of the seagull variety near the water. Both kind are waiting to poop on you but the seagull is more aggresive so he is also looking at stealing any food you might be eating so be careful.
Going back into the photo vault I find pictures of the baby swans that paddled around the harbour earlier this year.

Harbour Fun

I was taking pictures of some wild cats when one did the Halloween Cat pose, you know the one where they arch their back and open their mouth to hiss. Then the witch puts a spell on you when you were distracted or Michael Myers comes by for a little slashing. Here are the mother and one of her kittens having some quality time together.
That got me thinking about Halloween night which happens Sunday, October 31st, 2010 and the kids go house to house seeking goodies from everyone while adults dress up in funny or sexy costumes and hit the party circuit. Some people ask why do women wear sexy costumes during Halloween and I say why not? In Toronto you can get costumes from Malabar on McCaul Street.
